    inyourroots® Safeguarding Policy

What this policy covers: This policy explains how inyourroots® keeps people safe, what standards apply across the platform and partnerships, and how concerns are reported and handled.

    Last updated: 18 February 2026

    Version: 1.0

    Quick summary

    • Safety, wellbeing, and respect come first for everyone using inyourroots®.
    • The platform supports users aged 16+, with extra safeguards for 16–17 year olds.
    • Unsafe behavior can lead to content removal, restrictions, or account suspension.
    • You can report concerns directly to the Safeguarding Lead: frankie@inyourroots.com.
    • If someone is in immediate danger, call 999 (UK) straight away.

    1) Our promise to you

At inyourroots®, your safety, wellbeing, and right to be yourself come first.

We support young people aged 16+ (including 16–17 year olds, with extra safeguards). We also welcome people with accessibility needs, neurodivergent users, and people with long-term health conditions.

    What this means in practice:

    • We treat you as a partner, not just a user.
    • We listen to your ideas, feedback, and concerns.
    • We do not tolerate bullying, discrimination, grooming, or unsafe behaviour online or offline.

    2) Who this policy is for

    This policy applies to:

    • Young people using inyourroots®.
    • Parents, carers, and supporters.
    • Employers, mentors, and anyone working with us.
    • Our team, freelancers, and volunteers.

    3) Who to contact (Safeguarding)

If you ever feel unsafe, worried, or have a question about safety, contact our Safeguarding Lead (the founder) directly:

    • Email:frankie@inyourroots.com

You will also be able to use a “Report a Concern” option on the website/platform (where available).

If you believe someone is in immediate danger, call 999 (UK) straight away.

    4) How we keep you safe

    a) Online safety and behaviour

Everyone agrees to a code of conduct before joining.

    This includes:

    • No bullying, harassment, hate speech, or intimidation.
    • No sexual content or sexual messaging.
    • No sharing personal contact details in public spaces.
    • Respecting boundaries, privacy, and consent.

If someone breaks these rules, we may remove content, restrict features, suspend accounts, or take other steps to keep people safe.

    b) Who we work with (employers, mentors, partners)

We aim to work only with employers and partners who share our values and agree to follow our safety rules.

    Where appropriate, we may:

    • Carry out checks and verification (for example, identity and business verification).
    • Request safeguarding assurances and/or training.
    • Carry out background checks (such as DBS) where required for the role or setting.

    5) Events, workshops, and mentoring

If we run events, workshops, or mentoring:

    • Each session will have ground rules and a named person you can speak to.
    • We will take steps to keep 1-to-1 interactions safe (for example: meeting in public spaces, involving a parent/carer where appropriate, or using secure online tools).
    • We will ask what you need to feel comfortable (including accessibility adjustments).

    6) Wellbeing and accessibility

We design the platform to be accessible and inclusive.

    That includes:

    • Listening to feedback and making improvements.
    • Providing wellbeing resources and signposting to additional support where needed.

    7) If something goes wrong (what we will do)

    No concern is too small.

    If you report something:

    1. We will listen and take you seriously.
    2. We will assess the risk and decide what action is needed.
    3. We will support you and keep you informed where we can.

Your privacy matters. We only share information when we need to, for example if someone is at risk of harm, or if we are required to by law.

    8) Learning and improving

We review this policy at least once a year (or sooner if needed) and update it based on feedback and best practice.

    9) Where we are right now

inyourroots® is still in its early stages and some features are being developed or tested.

    What this means:

    • Some functions (like mentoring, community features, or matching) may not be live yet, or may be in beta.
    • Some checks and moderation may be manual while we build and improve systems.

If you are unsure whether a feature is live or how we keep it safe, please ask.

    10) Need help or want to talk?

If you feel unsafe, have a worry, or want to ask a question about safety or wellbeing, please get in touch:
